GAST Consulting was formed in 2001 as a multi-disciplinary consulting firm, with over 34 professional engineers and 42 technicians and technologists. GAST Consulting provides the backbone and technical resource for the rest of the GAST Group. Since the creation in 2001 our consulting division has been involved in numerous projects in Africa, providing innovative solutions with cost efficiency and turnkey solutions to our clients from planning and design to project management.

Engineering has been an aspect of life since the beginnings of human existence. The earliest practice of civil engineering may have commenced between 2000 and 4000 BC in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia (Ancient Iraq) when humans started to abandon a nomadic existence, creating a need for the construction of shelter. During this time, transportation became increasingly important, leading to the development of the wheel and sailing. In the 18th century, the term civil engineering was coined to incorporate all things civilian, as opposed to military engineering. GAST has since the early 90’s provided various design and installation services to multi-faceted clients worldwide, predominately specializing in Geotechnical Engineering, Bulk Earth Works, Water Resource Engineering, Surveying, Bulk Water Supply, Sewage, Municipal / Urban Engineering and Hydraulic Engineering.
